Locum Consulting supports The London Festival of Architecture 2010

02/11/2009

The London Festival of Architecture 2010 (LFA2010), a sixteen-day programme of events running from 19 June to 4 July, will take place around the theme of The Welcoming City, highlighting how cities can become increasingly amenable, tolerant and engaging. The theme also responds to the Olympic slogan for 2012, "London welcomes the world".

The LFA is a biennial, citywide exploration and celebration of London's built environment. Now in its fourth edition is produced collaboratively by London's leading architectural organisations — The Architecture Foundation, New London Architecture and Royal Institute of British Architects London - in partnership with a broad range of cultural and professional organisations including Locum Consulting, part of the Colliers CRE Group.

Locum's Jim Roberts has sat on the organising committee since the inaugural event in 2004 and Sir John Ritblat, Colliers CRE's Chairman, has been appointed as the new Honorary President of LFA2010. Roberts' advisory role continues with the planning of the 2010 and 2012 events.

The Festival will take place across London, with three weekend focus areas – the West End (Portland Place/ Regent Street), High Street 2012 (Whitechapel, Bow and Stratford in the East) and the Bankside Urban Forest (Southbank and Bankside Cultural Quarter), and will incorporate the International Architecture Student Festival, the International Architecture Showcase, Love Your Street and Open Studios, together with a comprehensive structure of affiliated talks, installations, exhibitions, pavilions, walks, bike rides, performances and Big Breakfasts.

The LFA are already planning major projects for the Olympic Year. The LFA2012 will take place from 23 June - 8 July 2012 and will highlight London's architecture to a global audience just weeks before the start of the Games.

New London Architecture located at The Building Centre will act as the headquarters for the festival, providing information to both the public and press.
