Colliers Robert Barry has completed the sale of luxury 23 bedroom Forbury Hotel in the centre of Reading to Von Essen Hotels on behalf of administrators Mark Wilson and Matthew Wild of Baker Tilley. The agents were Colliers Robert Barry's Cirencester Office.
Colliers Robert Barry is the specialist hotels division of Colliers CRE.
The Forbury had been the subject of a £6 million refurbishment in 2006 and it is widely regarded as one of the most stylish boutique hotels in the country. The sale included 17 apartments recently built at the back of the hotel.
Alastair Murchie, a director of Colliers Robert Barry said:
'We got an enormous amount of interest in the hotel when it went to the market earlier in the year, which was not at all surprising given the quality of the Forbury. Despite all the difficulties of the property market, the hotel sector is busier than many people think and quality places like this will always find a buyer'.
The sale price was not disclosed, but the agents had been inviting offers over £7 million for the hotel and apartments.
